Author: April Bostic
Genre: Paranormal Fantasy
Release Date: August 8th 2013
Format: eARC
Paige Donovan is an ambitious college graduate who aspires to reach the top of the corporate ladder. She’s climbing fast when given the promotion of a lifetime at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Her bright future comes to an unexpected halt after news of her father’s death. She inherits his old cabin in the Colorado Rockies and just when she thinks her luck couldn’t get any worse, she has a car accident in the mountains and awakens in the small, remote community of Black River. Soon she’s engulfed in the mystical world of Varulv—wolves descended from 12th century Scandinavia and blessed by Norse gods with the ability to appear human. Paige is desperate to return home, but never expects to fall for her rescuer, Riley Gray, a charming young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future with his pack. Now she must choose between the career she’s always wanted and the love she’s always dreamed.
First of all, let me tell you that this review is meant to be read with a British accent.
Where should I start? Hmm. I guess it can only be fitting to start my review with my favorite character in the book, and that’s Riley.
Now, Riley is the perfect boyfriend in my opinion. He is just so adorable with that British accent of his. He’s also very honest with his feelings and he’s just so sweet to Paige! Paige is one lucky girl. And oh, not to mention, Riley is a wolf who can turn human, yep, that’s right ladies, superhuman good looks plus superhuman strength, now isn’t that a killer combination?
“Love, I’m not going to hurt you. I would never.”
And Paige, Paige is one feisty woman. She refuse to bow down to the males in the pack, I think it’s only fitting that she becomes the alpha female. She’s definitely got some girl power.
“Riley?”
“Yes?”
“Why do you love me?”
“Because you have a good heart. You’re sweet, strong, intelligent, and you make me laugh.” He chuckled. “You’re fierce…like when you were punching me.” This time I laughed. Suddenly, he paused. Then I heard his quiet voice say, “And you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen since my mother.”
I like Paige a lot but there some parts of the book where I just want to hit her in the head. She did some things to hurt Riley and I hate seeing Riley hurt. But Riley can’t really hate Paige, it’s just not in his nature and I’m glad they got back together in the end.
I really love the happy ever after, and after all the things they’ve been through, they really deserve the happy ending they got. This book was such a delight to read and I recommend this to anyone out there who likes romance with a paranormal twist.
FAVORITE QUOTES
I’m glad you came. I’ve loved every day we spent together, from the first day we met to this moment now. I’m happiest when I’m with you. I don’t want you to have any regrets, because I don’t.
***
Because males are stupid and they like to fight
***
I climbed onto his back and grabbed his fur. I prayed I wasn’t hurting him and wouldn’t break his spine with my ass.
***
He said I fascinated him, but he enchanted me.
***
Watching Riley and his father was reminiscent of my mother and me when we’re at each other’s throats. The only difference being we never argued in the nude.
***
Death usually occurs spontaneously. You can’t plan for it.
***
Last night a wolf howled for me. The deep haunting sound pierced through my dreams and pulled me from the infinite black void of my subconscious. The howl took hold of my soul as I slept and forced me to relive a distant memory from my childhood.
