Mackenzie “Max” Miller has a problem. Her parents have arrived in town for a surprise visit, and if they see her dyed hair, tattoos, and piercings, they just might disown her. Even worse, they’re expecting to meet a nice, wholesome boyfriend, not a guy named Mace who has a neck tattoo and plays in a band. All her lies are about to come crashing down around her, but then she meets Cade.
Cade moved to Philadelphia to act and to leave his problems behind in Texas. So far though, he’s kept the problems and had very little opportunity to take the stage. When Max approaches him in a coffee shop with a crazy request to pretend to be her boyfriend, he agrees to play the part. But when Cade plays the role a little too well, they’re forced to keep the ruse going. And the more they fake the relationship, the more real it begins to feel.

I felt really bad for Cade at the end of Losing It because he didn’t get the girl. He seemed like a really good guy. So I was over the moon to know that he’s going to get his own novel and a chance to find the girl of his dreams.

Max and Cade came from opposite sides of the pole. There was nothing they have in common. Max isn’t even Cade’s type. But by some crazy coincidence, Cade was there just when Max needed a fake boyfriend to introduce to her parents. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, her parents liked him. Now they have to keep up the facade until Max’s parents leave her alone.

Max is a tough girl, there’s no denying that. But beneath the tough exterior was a fragile girl being haunted by her past. Cade doesn’t know what to do with his life now that he’s done with college. There was one thing obvious to him though, he had to nurse his broken heart. It still hurt when Cade sees Bliss in Garrick’s arms but at least she’s happy, even if he’s not.

What stood out to me the most with Faking It was the compelling characters. I already know a little about Cade from Losing It and I know I liked him from the start. But Max was new to me and still, I liked her right away. People don’t get her choice of hair color or her tattoo but that didn’t stop her from being herself. Cade is a great guy and it goes without saying but I love him even more because he doesn’t even try to change her.

The ending made me bawl like a baby but I think it’s perfect. I think this book is perfect.

Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find where you truly belong…
Most girls would kill to spend months traveling around Europe after college graduation with no responsibility, no parents, and no-limit credit cards. Kelsey Summers is no exception. She’s having the time of her life . . . or that’s what she keeps telling herself.
It’s a lonely business trying to find out who you are, especially when you’re afraid you won’t like what you discover. No amount of drinking or dancing can chase away Kelsey’s loneliness, but maybe Jackson Hunt can. After a few chance meetings, he convinces her to take a journey of adventure instead of alcohol. With each new city and experience, Kelsey’s mind becomes a little clearer and her heart a little less hers. Jackson helps her unravel her own dreams and desires. But the more she learns about herself, the more Kelsey realizes how little she knows about Jackson.

Ah, Kelsey. Bliss’s best friend. The party girl. The rich girl. Those are only a few names she goes by. I like her sunny personality but turns out not everything about her is bright and happy.

The last time we heard about Kelsey, she was going to tour around the world. But her Europe trip wasn’t as glamorous as it sounds. Little did everyone knows, she’s not touring the world for the sheer fun of it, okay, maybe she is, but that’s not all. Secretly, she is running away from her past.

Not only did Finding It showed us a little more about Kelsey but we also get to see the beauty of the European countries she visited. Her sun shiny personality and party girl attitude turns out to be just a shield so that people can’t see too much into her. She has a haunting past she desperately wants to forget with every shot of liquor. Her family doesn’t get her. Obviously, she has issues and because Carmack writes very compelling characters, she made me care about Kelsey, she made me empathize with her.

Hunt is an enigma. Kelsey barely knows anything about him. But there’s just something about him that draws her to him. This goes without saying but Hunt is so crushable! And he’s hot. Ugh I have a soft spot for mysterious men.

Cora Carmack is definitely one of my favorite NA contemporary romance authors. And this series is one of my all-time favorite NA books. It’s a must read!
